Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Rehabilitation Services provides diagnostic and therapeutic intervention for speech, language, communication, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders for adults across inpatient, outpatient, and subacute levels of care. Requires advanced, hospital-based experience. Independence with speech-pathology related tracheostomy & ventilator care, as well as Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Studies required for consideration.
Would consider a part-time applicant to participate in a job-share role for the position.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Current licensure in the State of Illinois as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
The level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
The ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, to share professional knowledge, actively participate in conferences and in-services, to develop integrated treatment plans and to gain peer support for the patient’s speech and pathology regimen.
The ability to be flexible to the needs of the patient and to the needs of hospital management, rehab team, and staff and the ability to adopt programs and procedures to accommodate the situation.
The creativity needed to develop programs and treatment approaches to address individual specific patient and departmental problems.
Strong verbal and written skills to communicate program needs, assess program activity, conduct therapy and interface with patients, physicians, staff members, and family.
Ideal candidate offers interest in program development, performance improvement, mentorship of peers, and staff & community education.
