PHYSICAL THERAPISTS - OUTPATIENT

Mercy Harvard Outpatient Physical Therapy

This professional will evaluate and develop physical therapy treatment plans for patients suffering from injuries, neurological conditions, or diseases of the muscle, nerve, joint and bone. Responsibilities will include restoring strength, movement and function; relieving pain; and preventing disability. We allow our Physical Therapists to focus on patient care, and support growth and development of specialty programs in our Rehabilitation areas.

Additional duties include:
  • Reviewing the physician's referral, the patient's condition, and medical records to determine required treatment, as well as patient history.
  • Testing/measuring/recording patient strength, balance, range of motion, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory/circulatory efficiency.
  • Observing patient posture, positive, and palpating anatomical structures.
  • Planning and preparing written treatment plan based on evaluation of patient data.
  • Administering manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
  • Instructing, motivating and assisting patient performance of various physical activities.
  • Administering treatments involving application of physical agents.
  • Evaluating the effects of treatment at various stages and making adjustments.
  • Administering message, soft-tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and traction.
  • Recording treatment, response, and progress in a patient chart or computer.
  • Instructing patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Conferring with the physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information and make recommendations.

Job Requirements:

 
  • Bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Current license to practice physical therapy in Illinois.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of PHS, HBO, Epic, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
  • Excellent reasoning ability and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to frequently lift/carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Willingness and ability to rotate to other clinic locations.
  • The ability to travel to off-site continuing education program sites.
  • The ability to pass the following: driver's license check, credit check, and Illinois Health Care Workers Background Check.
