Job Summary: To provide optimal patient care by evaluation, program planning and implementation of treatment for patients referred for occupational therapy in order to restore function and/or prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part.  To evaluate and recommend equipment needed for the patient to achieve an optimal functional level in the home setting. To provide teaching to patients and caregivers on equipment use, safety, and environmental changes to promote functional status. Responsible for direct supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to ensure that the established treatment plan is followed.  The Occupational Therapist may supervise the care provided by the aide in order to increase the patient’s functional abilities and rehabilitative potential.
 
 

Minimum Qualifications:
 
Education:  Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association. 
 
Experience:  Minimum one year experience as an Occupational Therapist.
 
Licensure/certification:  Current licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of South Carolina is required.  Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
 
Knowledge/Skills:  Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals.  Must be able to communicate effectively with people of various cultural and educational backgrounds.
